
Stagger, paper & tar, 2009
Much of my work consists of layers created from bits and pieces of discarded books, paper, fabric and my own clothes. Order, association, and sometimes irreverence emerge from the alteration of the materials. The adaptation documents a passage of time: history and future.
Diane Sikes earned an MFA in Studio arts in 2000 from Memphis College of Art in Memphis, Tennessee. Her undergraduate work was completed at the University of Memphis in Memphis, Tennessee in 1997 where she earned a BFA with an emphasis in sculpture. She is a former member of 500X Gallery in Dallas, Texas and currently shows work at Mighty Fine Arts (MFA Gallery) in Dallas, TX.
